Moszna Mount Research

On 05/12/2009 Sowiogórska Grupa Poszukiwawcza (Owl Mountains Research Group) took a research action on an unprecedented scale. In cooperation with Maxam Polska Sp. z o. o., we decided to carry out drilling on the Mount Moszna to confirm the existence of a hollow sidewalks made during World War II. Like most enthusiasts of the Owl Mountains and the Riese Complex knows, on the slopes of the mountain there are traces of the shot tunnels and a terrestrial infrastructure.
We attempted to reach the inaccessible adits. For this purpose, with the help of the company Maxam Polska Sp. z o. o., we imported the ATLAS COPCO blasting drill. The device uses 50 liters per hour and can drill holes with a diameter of 100 mm, drilling at a rate of 1000 mm (1 m) to 2500 mm (2.5 m) per minute. The equipment weighs 17.3 tons. In the field it can travel at speeds up to 3.5 kmph.
Following earlier studies with GPR, we selected few places to perform drilling. At 10.30 AM an imported equipment arrived at the place designated for research. The moment we all waited for has just begun. Tension grew. Everyone wondered whether this time the riddle of the alleged Moszna Complex would be solved. Then, a fiber optic camera was entered into the holes to check the alleged existence of the hollow sidewalks.
The first borehole gave a negative response. However, not deterred the first attempt, the drill operator began making the second hole on the extension of the embankment located in a valley between the Massif Moszna and the Mount Włodarz . Here we also failed to find the sidewalk. After checking the two places, we have decided to take a break for coffee, tea and pea soup delivered to the place of research by Mr. Jurek Myśliński, owner of the Hubert Inn in place Walim. After this nice accent we continued searching the alleged hollow sidewalks. Unfortunately, after making all boreholes and checking them by fiber optic camera we could not confirm the existence of an adit in the massif of Mount Moszna. However, we won't give up and will try to return to the topic in spring.
