Research of the 1st of may 2009 ( Friday ) - Soboń and Gontowa

At the beginning of May, our group met again in RIESE complex to continue the exploration. On the 1st of May, we set off from the Rzeczka drift to Soboń and Gontowa complexes. The goal of that expedition was to learn about drifts in the mountain ranges mentioned above and to prepare photographic documentation. Those drifts are not open to tourists.

Late in the morning we went to Soboń complex and in the afternoon we visited the other complex - Gontowa which was hewed in sandstone contrary to Soboń which was hewed in gneiss.

In Gontowa complex there are a lot of rock debris and roof cracks. Because of soft and fragile material, walking inside this complex is extremely dangerous!! It is not advisable by SGP members to visit this complex on your own initiative !!!!

In both complexes you can see bats spending the winter there.

2nd of May 2009 ( Saturday ) - the exploration of Moszna Mountain and Rzeczka drift.

In the morning we examined drift number 2 in Rzeczka complex. We intended to reconstruct the location of narrow-gauge rails with a radiodetector. The measurements were taken in several places to verify the collected data. The results are promising.

Then, in the early afternoon, we set out to Moszna Mountain in order to do georadar tests.

At the site where the alleged drift traces were found, we were planning to do research as early as in February 2009, but the weather did not let us do so. The tests were performed by geologists from AGH in Kraków. After the echograms analysis, we managed to obtain satisfactory results. Further work is due to be done during holidays.
